Pure virgin wool, merino, alpaca or even cashmere, Royal Mer selects with the greatest care the wools that make up its sweaters, cardigans and vests.

RECOGNIZING NATURAL WOOLS

Each wool has its own characteristics:

Pure virgin wool, for warmth

Coming from Scottish sheep, this somewhat stiff wool is renowned for its resistance and thermal qualities. It is therefore perfect for making sailor sweaters. The term “pure virgin wool” means that it comprises at least 99.7% wool.

Merino wool, for comfort

It owes its name to a species of sheep whose wool is very fine and reputed to be softer than that of Scottish sheep. From Australia, this comfortable and dense wool, insulating and thermo-regulating, can be worn next to the skin.

Alpaca wool, for softness

Extremely soft and durable, this wool comes from alpaca, a type of llama native to the Andes and bred in certain parts of the world for its precious fleece. Each animal can only produce 2 to 3 kg of wool per year, making it a rare and sought-after fiber.

Cashmere wool for refinement

Produced by goats raised in an area stretching from the province of Kashmir to Mongolia, this downy fiber is characterized by its rarity (150 grams of wool per goat/year) and its extreme fineness. Renowned for its softness and warmth, this exceptional wool is considered a luxury product.

Royal Mer ’s advice

To ensure the quality of your pure new wool product, favor products bearing the Woolmark label. This label guarantees virgin wool coming from living, healthy animals.
